I asked a question in another category about a TV show and the person who answered wrote they didn't like it and blah. If you don't like the question or it's contents, why do some people feel the incessant need to answer anyway?

I agree. I think some people answer questions just to get the points, or maybe they think it's important in life to slam everything and everyone. Personally, I don't sweat it because there's nothing they can do to affect my life or my attitude. Just keep asking those questions - there are those out here who actually enjoy the exchange.

They're just taking advantage of an easy way to get 2 points. Let me tell you what someone did to me. I asked a question about whether you were going to be an organ donor upon your death. And then made the comment I had a family member alive today, due to someone donating their organs. Everyone was very nice and respectful except for one person who replied, "Oh shut the f**k up". Now who knows why this person felt the need to slam me like that but, on Y&A you gotta take the good with the bad. I guess it all evens out in the long run.

People’s feelings get in the way of their aspirations, influenced through mass media or their chosen form of communication and instruction.

Brusque replies may be attributable to:

- Answerers believe that they are answering what they feel right without necessarily thinking it through;
- Off loading personal gripes and grouses are not uncommon;
- Voicing for the sake of voicing;
- Cultural, class, education, and other socio-political biasness;
- Strong belief in a one and only right way, quite possibly demonstrated and measurable in their responses;
- Not all forms of expression, given the Asker's and Answerer's background, are neutral but loaded with an inherent biasness.

Constructive critique, legitimate debates, and neutrally expressed opinions in lieu of ad homonym attacks are naturally always preferable as there is no psychological assault on a person’s senses.

This is where the separation of a mature and mentally disciplined audience is distinguished from the run of the mill responses, not dissimilar to studying and working life.

Bottom line is, there is not one correct way of expression but a more coherent and/or appealing way to express both questions and answers to a sufficiently large audience at the time of posting.

An instance of perseverance and character building is if at first the question or answer does not work, to try and try again (with different approaches). Take heart.

I guess you should expect to get what you paid for and have a teflon personality so that everything thrown at you just slides right off! But every once in awhile you may be surprised at the quality and thoughtfulness of an answer or two you may receive.
