I have recently had my computer updated and the memory completely wiped, so I re-installed The Sims 2. I then tried to re-install my university expansion pack several times, but each time, after it tells you to put in disk 4 to check if your sims is up to date, it says there is an error with the updating/installation and that the installation will terminate. I thought this might just be a problem with university, so, recently I got Nightlife, and the same thing happened again. I have tried multiple times. The thing is, it won't tell me what the error is so I don't know how I'm supposed to fix it. I don't see how my original Sims 2 can not be up to date.

Please help because I don;t want to have wasted £40 on two expansion packs.

For one thing going back to the store where you got it isn't going to help. Have you tried downloading and installing the patches for the sims released on the official site?
You can find them here: http://thesims2.ea.com/update/?pid=Help_patches
If that doesn't work, clean your disks. If you are still having problems, go to EA's tech support site:

http://support.ea.com/cgi-bin/ea.cfg/php/enduser/home.php?p_sid=*ShrzXqi&p_sp=cF9zcmNoPSZwX3NvcnRfYnk9JnBfZ3JpZHNvcnQ9JnBfcm93X2NudD03NTk2JnBfcHJvZHM9JnBfY2F0cz0mcF9wdj0mcF9jdj0mcF9zZWFyY2hfdHlwZT1hbnN3ZXJzLnNlYXJjaF9ubCZwX3BhZ2U9MQ**

and file a question about it for them to answer. Hope you get this resolved. :)

Have you made sure the last disc is clean and not scratched, try re-installing the sims 2 again, don't install the sims university in the same location where you installed the sims 2.If you do the sims university files will overwrite the sims 2 files and neither games will work properly! By default, the installer automatically installs the sims university into a seperate location. If you choose to install the sims university elsewhere, make sure that it is not the same place where the sims 2 is installed. If you installed the sims university in the same location, to get both games working again, reinstall the sims 2 and then reinstall the sims university.
