I did not know if it would do any damage to the laptop. Can I keep it on and charging there?

u can keep it there without problem. mine always sits on a lower shelf of a table that i have in my room and i charge it there whenever it needs it. as for always keeping it on and charging - i would not do this bc it will run down ur battery faster. just leave it on but close it so that it goes into sleep mode and wont run battery down. otherwise u will have to buy batteries frequently bc the more u use/charge the faster its capacity decreases (kinda like rechargable batteries for cameras, etc)

Your main concern about where you place the lalptop is if there is a magnetic field, or an eletrical field that affect the plasma or LCD screen on the laptop. Avoid those since it will damage the screen and some parts of the laptop.

You can with no worries about damage from TV/VCR. But be sure that laptop is plugged in with surge protection.

Other than that just make sure it doesn't get knocked off. (I dropped my laptop once.. Very bad on them LOL)

Should be fine as long as the cooling system of the laptop is in condition to work properly .

just as long as nothing is sitting ontop of it, or putting pressure on the LCD screen. Also make sure that if it is on, it has good air circualtion, especially if it is in a small close area, or you might face overheating issues.
