psychology has been scientifically studied for over 50 years with the same scientific methods as any science. since psychology studies people and not chemicals or laws of physics, it is difficult to make hard and fast conclusions about behavior. without the study of psychology, there is a tremendous amount about human behavior that we'd never understand. people ask so many questions on here and on daily talk shows that psychology researchers have scientifically resolved 20 years ago... if you understood the process behind psychology research, you probably wouldn't question it. one famous example is milgram's shock experiment that explained obedience... and partly answered the question about why soldiers in the holocaust did what they did. this is 1 of 1000 examples of what psychology has contributed to the understanding of human behavior. CLINICAL psychology .... sometimes.... is madness because of a lack of fit between the patient and doctor.

Madness is no more than the imaginitive delusions of a deranged mind. Yet scientifically speaking, the universe is nothing more than an illusion, with particles moving fast enough as to form objects that feel and appear as solid, liquid and gas. Therefore it is logical to deduce that anyone who believes what their body tells their brain is so, is psychologically mad. So your real question is ...
Is it fair to label everyone mad?, and would it serve any purpose?, or should the definition of madness be altered to accomodate our newfound understanding that we know we know nothing about anything?

Psychology is not madness at all or at least lets hope it is not madness. It really depends on what type of psychology you are talking about and what type of treatments you are referring to.
