I asked myself the same thing a few years ago!!
Then somehow I remembered that I had been happy once upon a time. It was when I was a child. Oh Yes, that's when I was happiest. What was it about that time in my life that made me so happy? Was it freedom from work? No because I had many chores. Was it my family around me? No because my family was a mess...
I really focused in on what was the happiest thing about my childhood days.
It was my pets!! My pets made me the happiest I'd ever been.
Their unconditional love felt so good. Doing for them, made me feel worthwhile. Watching them grow up and be healthy and happy because of my care and attention.
So, I now have two terrific dogs that I've had since they were puppies. They still make me happier than anything else in my life. I'm just not that into people, just my upbringing I guess.
I'm not saying this is your answer. It was my answer. But the past holds the key to our future. Look back, when were you happy and why?
Happy New Year!!

Depends entirely upon YOU! You can choose to be happy or you can choose to be sad. If you are allowing circumstances to affect your happiness, then you are not getting the big picture. Right now, I have a toothache - would that make you sad? Not me, I know that I have a dentist who can take care of my problem. Instead of focusing on the pain and the expense, I focus on the positive aspect of my situation. Sometimes this is tough, but you can't let everyday life get you down. Take the experiences that you have had that have destroyed your happiness and try to make something positive out of it - you will be surprised how (when you think positively - a positive mental attitude) circumstances will not affect your happiness so much. One thing I do is try to help others more - this makes you forget your problems and it draws a positive influence on your life by helping someone in one of those situations that affects their happiness. Good luck - just keep your chin up, think positive, and don't let the world steal your happiness.

The decision to be "happy " is YOUR choice.
Happiness is a frame of mind!
When you're at work or doing homework or doing some chore that you don't want to do because you'd rather be doing something else, that mind frame makes you unhappy.
Focus instead on the moment and doing the best job that you can do and stop focusing on how much you dislike doing whatever it is you must do.
If you're involved with someone who makes you unhappy, then decide whether or not it's worth it to remain involved with someone who makes you miserable.
Being alone and pursuing your interests - reading, exercising, obtaining a good education - are better than being with someone who makes you unhappy.
Look for the good in people, which is hard to do at times, or ignore those who say hurtful things and steer clear of people who do mean things to hurt you.
YOU have the power, and only YOU to be happy.
Read "The Power of Positive Thinking" by Norman Vincent Peale or "The Gift of Awakening" by Gil Ferrar-Hall to learn the ways in which YOU can find happiness.
It's up to YOU.

Dude, if you keep asking questions like that, you won't ever be happy. You are looking for happiness when you should be creating it.
Take life by the eggs and scream "excite me!" Get a change of scenary. You're probably surrounding yourself with depression, too, right? Your music collection... the base color of your wardrobe... You just need a major overhaul on the attitude, dude.

From the sounds of it you sound like you could be unhappy. I don't know your situation. If you are suffering or going through depression I urge you to join a support group who will help you get through the rough spots or rough times.
Sometimes we all need to reach out and if I am wrong about then please consider geting out of the house and taking up a night course and getting a hobbie that you would enjoy because you will meet some people and it will take your mind off of your problems.

Just as soon as you accept what you cannot change and understand you will never understand everything and then start to focus on the things you like instead:)
Good luck. Happiness came to Ghandi in a prison cell, so....
