There are several reasons this might be happening. The obvious question is, do you get enough sleep at night? If your sleep is being disturbed (even without you're being aware of it) by breathing problems, this could cause you to be drowsy during the day.

Eye strain from looking at a computer screen can cause you to become drowsy. You might want to get your eyes examined. If you need reading glasses, that would take a lot of strain off your eyes.

Working out: Sitting in front of a computer all day takes it's toll. Consider an aerobic workout for 15 minutes a day, every other day. This can be a real good boost to keep you alert and energetic. Over time, increase the level and duration of your aerobic exercise. You'll be amazed at how good it can make you feel inside and out. If you work in a high rise office building, climb the stairs instead of using the elevator. Even a small workout like that can invigorate you.

Avoid too much coffee, sodas, sugary snacks. They're good for a short term burst of energy, but when they wear off, it's Crash And Burn.

Dehydration can cause you to feel sleepy and lethargic. Drink water, along with an energy drink that replenishes your electrolytes.

A healthy diet, and regular exercise. Sorry, not a quick fix, but the long term effect will far out weigh the short term quick fix.

Last on the list, have your blood sugar checked. If it's too high, and you're over weight, you might have type 2 diabetes. This can lead to feeling drowsy and sleepy. It's an effect from the high glucose levels in the blood. I sure hope that isn't the reason you feel sleepy, but if it is, best to get that taken care of as soon as possible.

Hope I could be of some help to you.

To my knowledge, this type sleep comes when you had heavy lunch, or you might not slept properly at night (with thinking something more than you could and not putting your brain on the proper rest).

So, you just need a deep sleep and have to get completely energized by relaxing your brain cells.

Mediations helps a lot, where you can relax a bit at work. And at home try to take medium cold shower (head bath) and try to sleep like a baby, which helps you when you wake up next morning.

Hope this helps

Drink more coffee, which not only will keep you more alert, but will give you more opportunities to get up from your desk to go to the restroom. While in there, splash water on your face, dry off, and go back to your desk and start the whole process over again.

If that doesn't work, devise an electrical switch that if you fall asleep you can flick it and receive a shock.

I'd prefer the coffee instead of the shock though, wouldn't you?

Obviously you aren't getting enough sleep or it is not restful sleep(wake often, etc.). Your Dr. would have to prescribe a sleep aid to help with this, but in the interim, you could drink coffee or any other beverage that contains a higher amt. of caffeine. Caffeine is addicting though, and it would take a long time to become addicted, but nonetheless, for a temp fix it'll do.Jobs like this often make the person tired because of eye strain, repetitive activity, etc. You may have to take short breaks more often to distract your mind and focus on something else for a minute or 2 to "clear" your head if you don't want to continue to drink caffeine or those drinks like "red bull" energy drinks.

this is going to sound truthfully bonkers...yet I learn as immediately as in a women human beings's magazine that in case you brush the roof of your mouth alongside with your tongue, that it stimulates some nerve endings, which perk you up, and make you better conscious. So i assumed -- very correct, i will attempt it, I even have not got from now on some thing to lose, actual? So i attempted it, and humorous sufficient, it actual works. diverse than that, i'd use (hardly), a calorie-loose crimson Bull. yet I see you do now no longer desire to purpose an skill drink. How some 15 minute brisk stroll? That works to get your blood shifting around better straight away, your oxygen going...

I once read the eating apple or drinking milk is better than drinking coffee to stay awake. You also need to know why you are tired. If its because you sleep late, find ways to relax/rest during work, try to enjoy your work at times, talk to your colleagues but also stay focus. If its not because your tired, you need to consult your doctor.

God bless you!

See your doctor. Caffeine and sugar help for a short time but drag you down farther after the rush is gone. I have hypersomulence and sleep apnea. I use a cpap machine at night and am prescribed a med to keep me from nodding off during the day.
