Yeah its a crime on behalf of the person living below the poverty line.
Beacuse if a person is born poor its not his mistake,
But he dies as a poor perso n then its certainly his mistake.
So its a crime....

George Bernard Shaw lived a long time ago, which is relevant because, since his time, standards of living have risen dramatically, collectively speaking. So, crime or otherwise, he was saying it was bad, and the fact that the situation overall is improving is good.
Shaw was a provocateur, and calling a poverty a crime is not exactly semantically accurate. I'd say it's a shame. Especially now, more so than in Shaw's time. The extent to which people suffer from poverty is a reason to be ashamed, because it no longer has to be true.
Buckminster Fuller pointed out in Critical Path that we didn't really have the technology to eliminate poverty globally until about 1969. But now we do, and we should, and we are trying, and we will succeed.
The means to grow the food and make goods for living and clean water and transportation for economic development exist...but there has been a lot of political confusion about how to implement it.
Yes, there are crimes along the way, like graft that has derailed genuine efforts to improve living standards. But crime is certainly not the only reason why poverty persists.

People who are considered poor, are not all born poor. Its the society that makes them poor or they consider them poor. In this world where every1 hurries around for money, they only see who is richer than whom! But those who have nothing are either discouraged or are disgraced by the people.
People look down to them as if they are a filth to the community, which is Wrong! Even they're humans like us too and they too deserve the same love & hapiness that we enjoy.
Making or turning people into poverty is Certainly a crime and thats what St. Bernerd had sed.
~peace out~

Implying poverty is a crime also implies the presence of victims and malice. With the victims being minorities, and the oppressors being Caucasians, an implication of a criminal act is made.

Yes, poverty is a crime but the poor are not criminals. We must finish poverty but we must not finish the poor.
