Africa was one of the most flourishing continents till the Europeans colonized it. They used African ppl as slaves and took advantage of all their resources.

That was the beginning of the deterioration of the continent. Later on, dictators got into power and borrowed money, created wars, and basially corruption was created. Now the African continent has lost alot of its natural resources which normally boosts and economy........ Lots of ppl have got diseases such as HIV/AIDS, and other STDS which were also brought into the country by Europeans and Americans etc..... So, people are suffering, there is also malnutrition due to lack of food (no natural resources like good soil for plantations etc)

There are loads of reasons why Africa is backward.......

In order to make a leap forward a country needs a government that sets up rules for capital markets, they need free trade, and minimal red tape standing in the way of capitalism. They also need infastructure such as roads, rail, bridges, power lines, etc. They need stable governments so investors can be reasonabley assured these things won't go away next year. Low taxes are a big help too. Next they need a good education system to produce knowlege workers. Do African countries have these things?

AIDS came from Africa, I'm not sure what that girl is saying.
