lost their money due to Farepak closing. Would you think twice about using any of these Xmas clubs again?

I feel sorry for anyone who looses like that, or in any other scam. Money is too hard to come by for most of us, especially those who join such clubs.
Honestly, I would never belong to one anyway. I put back a little along in a regular account. I think it much more appealing.

I myself have NOT heard of this Farepak before. BUT I can only say I'd be going ballistic over this. And that depends on how much money I had invested. But either way I would NOT be a happy camper. I can say that I would rethink several times before doing this again. And I most likely would never invest or put money into it again.

Yes, I do. Christmas has a way of showing who is organized and who is disorganized. Ppl would be better off saving their money in a bank account. Some families enjoy the secret Santa system where one person buys a gift for one person. Thus everyone gets a gift and ppl do not overspend because they don't have to buy so many gifts. And ppl end up getting less junk/useless items. In many countries (France comes to mind), Christmas isn't so much about gift giving and many times, only the kids get a gift and it's usually one toy. Even in the U.S., during the great depression, the kids were just happy to get fruits and candy in their Christmas stocking as gifts. Each family has to decide how they want to handle the gift giving and spending at Christmas. Remember, in the first Christmas, the greatest gift was the gift of eternal life through the birth of Jesus, our saviour. There were no playstations, watches, jewelry or cars as gifts.

It's an awful thing to have happened however, who wants to be paying for Christmas a year in advance. People would be better off putting their money in a savings account.

I wouldn't even think once. Much better idea to save money in a building society. Can't think why people ever bothered with these hamper clubs.

A better alternative, is to buy supermarket savings stamps. Asda start you off with £5 in the savings book.

Definately, what with banks going bust and Saving companies going under i think we will be better off going back to putting our money underneath our mattresses
