Mostly in society we tend to have the stereotype that grown women and young girls have no interest or are too "sophisticated" for video games, but I see more and more ladies browsing EBgames and Gamestop more than ever. Not to go shopping for the boyfriends, male relatives or kids, mind you. I overhear them talking sometimes with their friends on how THEY themselves really love to play a game they see in particular.

you guys are so sterotypical!!!!! I am female I despise Sims (what is the point really???) I do like metal gear solid. I can beat my husband at ALL of the need for speeds. I was one of the first people I know of to beat silent hill! my bf had even left the room when I was playing that game cause it freaked him out. and the only game I play with flowers and bunnies is Zelda! And I know more female gamers then male gamers cause they guys don't like games and say they are too busy to waste time on them.

I did not meet many female players, they are not interested in games in general. tiger b probably is an exception regarding the interest in games.
I noticed women tend to play better then men games that require fast reactions - but it is an observation on a limited number of samples...

all questions on sims I saw were asked by females.

I agree with tiger b. I'm 26 female and I'm hooked on World of Warcraft! I love it! I also play all the Final Fantasy Games, Racing, Guitar hero 1 & 2, pretty much any game I can get my hands on.

very small. surveys I've seen suggest that less than 10% of gamers are female; but i doubt that it's accurate. The gaming industry desperately needs more people to play, not only teenage guys. that's one of the goals of the Nintendo Wii.

I think it depends on the game. For instance 'The Sims' is mostly played by women, whereas "Metal Gear Solid" tends to have a more male orientation.

Just so you know, 87.3% of all statistics are made up on the spot. My wife is a female gamer though. That's how we met, in fact! Thanks Everquest 2!
