Why are muslims so afraid of open and honest debate about their religion?

This attitude shows clearly when someone writes or says something about islam e.g.danish cartoons etc. Their reaction to anything against their religion stupifies me! When things are said against christians or any other religion people are open and honest and opinions are respected but when it comes to islam its the exact opposite....threats are made and people get all hysterical and out of control..which in my opinion makes matters worse...its almost as if muslims are scared of having their religion exposed to critical minds so they try very hard to shut out anyone who has an opinion about their religion. What do you think?

I agree. When you ask a direct question they give you an indirect answer about another religion.

Its really getting old. I just wish they could answer for themselves and not blame the rest of the world.

Every Religion, well most every Religion has an attitude that is not understood by a non member or adherant.
There was a time and still is when people that would not convert to Christianity were tortured untl they did and then they were killed.
When the Human Citizens can understand that an Indaviduals beliefs belong to that indavidual and should not be swayed or tampered with. then there would be a little better understanding between humans.
I have Muslim friends, I have Christian friends, I have Atheist friends, I have Jewish friends, I have Hindu friends and I even have a friend that thinks a Volcanoe on his Island is a God.
There are good people and there are not so good people, of these two groups are members of every religion on the Earth.
One day we will either become friends or we will all die.

Never the less, when muslims don't defend thier belief they fear that it could reach to the same problem in the western countries. For ex. Davinci code, have striken the christeanity in it's center, while the church couldn't even stop the film from showing. I agree. I get violation notices every day because I've upset some Muslims with my questions and answers! I don't know why they report everyone who doesn't agree with them! It is sort of like circumcision.those who have had it done to them do not know the difference of not having it done and vise verse.my point being that some individuals do not want to know what they are missing because they have convinced themselves that they are better than others as they perceive themselves to be.someone recently said that violence and murder in Islam is similar to sex in western culture.whatever the case,recent threats to the oil industry stability[such as a new non-oil source for energy]is crimping that superiority security and forcing them to realize that they must cooperate with the world to be part of the world.they are being let down easily.

this is because terrorist are related to them and they r thought to be supporting them.
many of my friends also believe Muslims use black magic and they r very scared to talk to them.
