water changes direction going down the plug hole sometimes why?

It shouldn't.
In the northern hemisphere it goes clockwise and the opposite in the southern.
All due to gravitational pull i think.

The hemisphere that you are in DOES make a difference, however it's only ussually noticeable if noother forces are effecting the water as it flows away. i.e if you put the tap on fast or tried to swish the water the other way, it would change direction, but if u just pulled the plug in the bath and didn't interfear it should always travel the same direction depending on which hemisphere your're in. Although i'd expect, the closer to the equator, the weaker the effect and the closer to the poles the stronger the effect.

The direction will depend on the shape of the bowl (which should stay the same)

The other factor which may affect this is how fast the water is coming out of the tap which I would guess is the factor which makes it change from day to day.

Being in the North or South hemisphere has a very very small effect and should not make any difference.

Because it's random. The north/south hemisphere thing is not proven. The Coriolis effect on such as small amount of water is unlikely to be seen. In a cyclone yes, not in a little bit of dirty dishwater.
"The rotation effect is so small, that it is vastly overshadowed by the direction in which the water entered the toilet bowl or basin, or wind effects over the surface of the water."

I have never noticed but I do know that water goes down the plug hole the other way in Australia. Because its over the equator the tide is different

To tell in a simple way. Inner forces in water and outer factors decides the direction. Fuild Mechanics is just teaching that...

It doesn't. If your in the northern or southern hemispere it still travels down the same way. Gravitational Pull

It goes different ways according to which hemisphere you are in.
