It is possible to forgive, but the woman has to want to. Forgetting is impossible, but with time and distance the thoughts are less and less. Key is to never throw it back in the guys face...and if she truly has forgiven then she won't. Moving on is a daily process....just remember the guy has to continue to be worthy of the forgiveness and never give her a reason to regret it.

A person can never truly forget, unless you get hit on the head and you damage that part of the brain where that memory sits. To completely forgive takes two people. One, the victim must be able to trust that the perpetrator will not do whatever it is they have done. And Two, the perpetrator will have to PROVE to the victim that they have remorse and will not hurt them in the way that they did. Most people simply expect that you can do something to someone and if you ask to be forgiven then they should just put everything behind them. Rubbish! If you hurt someone and you truly feel you require forgiveness from someone you will have to work extra hard to make sure that they know you are truly sorry. Instant forgiveness is a myth perpetuated by religion. We all have to take responsibility for our actions and when we mess up we all have to work to correct our mistakes.

Well, it is possible to forgive, and to move on with life, but depending on the situation, she may never forget. A lot depends on what wrong was done to her and how it affected her. It also depends on if she is worried that it will happen again. Hopefully time will heal all.

It depends. If you keep doing the same thing over and over, then forget about her forgetting if you keep reminding her. If God can forgive and forget and he made us in his image then we should be able to also. I would just tell her that if she wants to go on being happy that she must forgive and forget. If she can't forget that's o.k. but you don't want to keep being reminded. Ask her how bad her neck hurts from looking back. It is pretty hard to go anywhere when one is driving in reverse!

Forgive - yes if you promise to never do it again
Forget - only when they are old and have alzheimer

It's like that old saying, "People will forget what you did to them, but will never forget how you make them feel".

Forgiving is not so much about an instant turnabout where your enemy is now your loving friend. It is about letting your anger towards them go, so it doesn't eat you up like a cancer, so you can go on with the business of living a healthy life, in the physical and mental realm.Yes, there are women, as well as men who have done just what I said.
