My 23-month old baby is going to have a new sibling in July. Problem is he is very very attached to me. When and how should we tell him that a sibling is coming to the family?

Let them know A.S.A.P. but do it gently. Let him know that he is getting a little playmate, be it a brother or sister! tel him they are getting big now and will have to look after and protect the sibling! Something to remember, you will not always be around to protect them so they must be close enough to look out for each other!! We wish to be there for our kids always but unfortunately it is not possible!!!!! let him help you bath and dress the little one, teach and help him to feed the little one as well! all will be well if you just pray about it and leave it in GOD`s hands!! but remember to give him all the attention possible and include him in everything where possible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My daughter is 15 months and will be 18 1/2 months when baby #2 arrives. We talk about the new baby with her all the time. We don't know how much she understands, but we want to help her adjust. Once we are done getting the new baby's room ready, I plan to get a baby doll to "take care of" until the baby is born, to help her even more with the adjustment.

Start telling him now it is better to be completely honest, and talk about it regularly with him. I even took my son to my doctors appointments with me, so he could feel involved with all that was happening. Also when you have the baby make sure everyone who enters the house says hello and pays attention to your son before the acknowledging the baby.

Good luck it is a fun, happy, tiring and difficult time. Just remember to take time out to enjoy all the little moments you have with your children.

Just do it, and be happy and say how great and wonderful it will be for the one you already have!

Congrads and Good luck!
