This is what one site states:

Matthews Arena, Boston: Northeastern plays its home games here – and has since 1930. Billed as the oldest hockey arena in the world, Matthews opened in 1910 and served as the first home of the Boston Bruins, Boston Celtics and the Beanpot tournament.

Looks a few sites have listed Matthews Arena as the oldest in the world and I saw it in a couple forums as well.

Do you have a reference on the world wide web Scottish because I'm not finding any oldest rink in Sweden.

Also is the one in the Sweden still in existence?

I might also mention that Pittsburgh had one of only 2 artificial ice surfaces in the world at of 1904-1905 so how could Sweden have an older hockey arena than that?

tHE OLDEST HOCKEY RINK BY FAR IS IN SWEDEN..It was in existance in 1822.Used then for figure skating but was renovated to accomodate more seating 6 times since. It has been used for Olympic events. It is still the premier ice pallace in all of Europe. It's name escapes me right now because it changed names a couple of years ago to honour one of Swedens Royalty.
For personal information the oldest arena in Ontario is in Delhi Ontario. There are several arenas in Canada that will lay claim to being the oldest..however it has yet to be proven.I like to think it is the old Halifax arena---the birthplace of hockey itself..I like so many other Canadians could care less what or who is the biggest in the US.---i HOPE THIS HELPS
