Actually, knowledge does not beget intelligence nor does intelligence neccessarily need knowledge.
The contemplation of your topic approaches both intelligence and knowledge. What is knowledge anyways but a mixture of information, senses, and some sense of the learned? We gain knowledge. We interpret our knowledge via our intelligence. Therefore knowledge in many ways is a mixture of social construction and the environment or method in which one gained knowledge (spiritually, creatively--but I still think that is socially influenced).
Research has know shown intelligence to be much more complex than the simple idea of having a high standard "IQ". Now people are talking about emotional intelligence. IQ tests do not measure knowledge, but how quickly your brain is able to interpret and solve a problem correctly. They are usually based on logical processing, inductive and deductive reasoning.
Neither knowledge or intelligence guarantee someone to be smart or bright. How you use your knowledge and IQ ultimately can become your undoing or your blessing. Seriously, think of those with knowledge of horrific acts, illness, tragedy, grief, addiction, (witnessed, experienced, read, felt, anything) who are well inspite of what they know. Then there are others who do not do well. Knowledge is how you choose to use it. Don't let it use you. If it is using you, does that feel like a good deed? Are you able to do good or does it pull you under? It is a battle or a journey.
Spelling, grammer, all of that is LEARNED and is a social construction. It has nothing to do with intelligence, so if someone suggests learning to spell as method of improving your IQ, they are likely missing the point unless they have a tremedous understanding the brain and how certain activities can increase brain potential. I barely understand this, yet have a decent IQ. I spell awful. Why, because spell check does it for you. That is an example of technology impacting knowledge. I can spell, I just don't bother.
Use your brain to decide how and what knowledge will do in your world.
