Remember that everyone else has had to do the exact same thing as you. Thinking of that always makes me feel less "alone" in front of everyone, because I know everyone else has been in front of everyone. Besides, all highschool reports are boring as hell, it's not like anyone will be listening anyway. I know no one listens to me except the few girls who like me so much they figure out my schedule within the first week of school.

Practice. Practice. Practice.
Also, whenever you present or speak in front of a group, you should know the subject forward and backward. Anticipate the types of questions you may get. This can help you be confident.
Don't stand still and look straight ahead. Look at people and make eye contact. Remember, if you're speaking in front of a group, they want to hear what you have to say.

if it's a speech, practice it! knowing what you're going to be saying before hand will give you more confidence because you'll be prepared. you'll know the words you have to pronounce, so once you give the speech, you'll handle it no sweat.
don't picture people in their underwear. if you've got too active of an imagination, it's only going to make you laugh or get even more tongue-tied.
take a few deep breaths before you give you speech. tense your hands into fists for 15 seconds and then let go and shake it out. if you have some privacy, do some stretches.
if you can't make eye contact (it can be kinda scary at first), focus on a spot just above someone's (or more than one person) head in the back row. people will assume you're looking at someone else.
do something you're good at as close to the time you have to speak. for example, if you have to give a speech at school, get up early and do something. can you run fast? go run for 15 or so minutes. can you sing? belt it out in the shower, no one's listening. good at video games? play your favorite level. whatever it is you're good at, do it. something you ARE confident in will naturally give you a boost and make you feel ready to face things you aren't so confident in.
and remember, you're going to kick total bum. good luck :)

I recommend Toastmasters' Club. Their aim is to correct all those things you don't like about yourself. Their program is very simple and the members were all like you at one point. My particular club has many immigrants in it who are trying to improve their shyness (around foreign strangers), improve their English, and improve their public speaking skills. There is a membership fee; here it is $36 for 6 months. You are permitted to attend for several meetings before you pay. You are given materials to work with; it is a ground-up program. Everyone is very kind and have been in your shoes. It will do remarkable things for you. Please give it a try and Good Luck to you...

A wise person gave me two pieces of advice about it. First of all, picture everyone in the audience naked and secondly, remember that it's just a speech. You're not doing brain surgery. In other words, put the importance of it into perspective.

Learn to mingle with other people. Develop your talents.. If you are to speak in front of a lot of people try to practice in front of a mirror. Do this often..

Pretend to yourself that nobody's in front of you and that you are only practicing. It'll take alot of the pressure off.
