It's definitely been cancelled!!!
"This feels like the best time to bring the show to its close," said Josh Schwartz, the show's creator and executive producer.
He added: "Thanks to the hard work of our cast, crew and writers, we have enjoyed our best season yet, and what better time to go out than creatively on top. It has been an amazing experience and a great run. For a certain audience, at a certain time, The O.C. has meant something. For that we are grateful."
Producers said, starting today, the series will begin a stream of new episodes culminating in the series finale on February 22.

yes the OC has been cancelled. I heard that it has been cancelled because every year the ratings for the number of people who watched the shoe kept getting lower and lower every year. Last year it was less then 4 million people last year, while the first year was over 10 million viewers.
I hope I helped.
Shawna. =)

it has been canceled unfortunatly. maybe another network will pick it up.
"Apparently when the bell tolled for Marissa Cooper, it also spelled curtains for the entire O.C.
After ordering up an abbreviated season of what was once TV's hottest prime-time teen drama (Beverly Hills, 90210 with even more beach time, if you will), Fox announced Wednesday that it has officially deep-sixed The O.C. The finale will air Feb. 22 after a nonstop run of new episodes starting Thursday. "
EDIT: TO HIPHOPGRA YES IT DID SAY SOMETHING ABOUT MOVING IT.
"The O.C. could pull a Buffy and end up on another network next season, although likely without its most prominent talent."

"The O.C.," the once-hot teenage soap opera that saw its ratings plummet like a delinquent student's grades, has been canceled. The final episode of the drama will air 9 p.m. EST Thursday, Feb. 22, Fox TV and Warner Bros. Television Production Inc. said Wednesday.
Observers have pointed to a variety of possible reasons for the slump, including inconsistent quality, the fickleness of younger viewers and a time-slot change."
Nothing was said in the article about it moving to another network.

No it's on for a whole new season. It started back up this october but has not been on the last couple of weeks. I assume because of the holidays. But it seems like it's getting better. The last couple of episodes were really good.
