Vented discs will have holes in the disc. Solid discs don't.

The Ford Ka has both vented and solid, depending on the model.
Turn the steering to full lock and look to the edge of the disc, just like the edge of a coin is the view of a solid disc.
Vented look like 2 coins together with spacers in between, this is called venting used for cooling the brakes and discs on cars with more power or performance.
Use a torch for extra light if necessary.

Solid discs are just what is said - solid. Where as vented discs have an air gap down the middle to help cool the disc down

it aint rocket science FFS lol vented have slots ie vents and solid have no vents or slots so they are solid. And yes the Ka has solid . The drums the other dude refered to are at the rear and the discs are at the front. Its been like 40 years since a car has had drum brakes at the front. Derrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

ford Ka-not vented front discs.
you can tell if you look at the side of the disc and its double with a space between the two.like this-> ll...a solid disc is one disk with no space between.
people above are talking about drilled discs(discs with holes on them)

the difference on vented and solid is on vented is that there is a series of gaps between the two main faces from looking down from above and a solid looks like one solid piece of metal still looking down from above

Some people are a little getting confused between 'vented', 'solid' and 'drilled'.

'drilled' - side on has holes drilled in it.
'vented' - edge on - looks like two disks with horizonal spacers
'solid' - edge on - solid - no gaps.

Hope that helps.

Look for vent holes in the disc, if there's no holes it's solid.
