Are you sure its not your waters that have gone? Id say just keep walking around, this helps speed things along and its what I did. When I was pregant with my 1st and 2nd babies I thought it would be a long thing so I tried to sleep and rest as much as possible so I would have lots of energy but they ended up being long, when I went into labour early stages with my last baby I kept walking around and it really speeded things up, as the baby is pressing down harder. Just try to do things like making sure everything is ready for the baby, your bag is packed etc, keep your self busy. Write down your contractions and how far they are apart and how long they last for, also if they are stronger, so you can see if you are getting further along. Thats what I did, it gave me something to do. I dont think it will be long now giving everything you have said. I would advise not going into hospital until your contractions are about 5 minutes apart, regular and strong, as time seems to go slower in hospital. In your own home you can relax so the pains will not feel as bad. You could always, dare I say it, check your self to see if things are moving on. If you know your own body and will be able to see if you are dilating and roughly how much by, if you do this make sure you wash your hands before hand though. Good luck, it wont be long until you are holding your baby x

See your doctor/midwife and ask their advice
You can try all the old wives' tales - Raspberry Leaf Tea, hot curries, sex, walks etc but to be honest there is no proof they work.
Also, if your waters have broken or are leaking you shouldn't have sex. You would need to be induced within 24 hours of them breaking so this is where you need advice of your doctor/midwife.
I had a fairly quick labour with strong contractions after my waters started leaking at 10am. Contractions started around 4pm and my baby was born at 00.30am which was quite good seeing how it was my first. I drank a lot of raspberry leaf tea and it might have had something to do with that although to be honest there is no scientific proof that any of these "natural" methods of induction work.
You could ask your doctor or midwife to do a membrane sweep where they sweep a finger around the cervix to separate the membranes - that gets labour going a lot of the time.
Other than that you really should be taking their advice. "Self-Induction" really isn't anything more than a collection of myths and "My Mum told me's" that don't always work and could be harmful in some cases.
Don't try the castor oil thing, it will just give you a terrible stomach upset and make labour much nastier! Bumpy car rides can damage your spine and make you car sick and aren't really a very good way of starting labour off.

Hi, I have 5 kids and had 3 at around 36-37 weeks like you I had fears when I first started losing mucous I went to hospital and they popped my waters and showed no concern that I was so early. The next pregnacy when I started losing the mucous at 37 weeks I decided to move things along my self and had a nice hot bath and then some not so hot sex LOL 2 hours later my waters broke and my 4th child was born 4 hours later. but everyone is diffrent so you may still have a while to go yet....But I know that feeling so well you just feel like you are hanging aroung waiting unsure what to do but wanting to do something!!!Good luck!!!

I know this is maybe not what you want to hear but have you spoken to your midwife?
I agree it sounds a bit early yet but with all the stuff that is coming out it seems as if something is happening and you want to make sure your baby is okay.
I personally dont think anything is wrong but better safe than sorry eh? I wouldnt try to self induce. Try paracetamol for the pain at the moment. If that doesnt help then call your midwife for an over the phone consult

Why don't you call your OB and ask what he/she thinks. Normally you are checked weekly during the last month anyway, so he/she shouldn't be too bothered by your questions. The doctors are used to a lot questions, and actually like them because they don't know what's going on unless you tell them. You don't have much longer to go, so just try not to worry an be patient. You have been given a lot of good advice about how to self induce, but be careful with the castrol oil, I have heard horror stories about it making the bowels a little too loose. That just wouldn't be any fun!!

All pregnancies are different, but in this case please see your midwife, The discoloured discharge/watery mucous could be a sign that your baby is in a little distress.
Also, in the UK they dont like to let you go over 24 hours after loosing the plug without being induced or at least having a good check.
Good Luck.

If your water breaks get to the hospital immediately. I had a similar experience with my second pregnancy and actually carried her 4 days past my due date. I had that nesting syndrome and literally cleaned my whole house. You can walk, do light housework. Also nipple stimulation causes uterine contractions too. At any rate, take it easy. That baby will come when she/he is ready. I hope you have a great experience and a healthy baby.

A rough ride on the worst streets u can find . Castor oil will induce labour. sex has also been used to induce labour but not on purpose! that one found out by accident in most cases. good luck I have had the pleasure of being with the doc. when he made home deliveries.

I was determined that I didn't want to be induced. I was 42 weeks pregnant and it was the day before my induction date (6th dec 06). I had had major backache for 24 hours. I went for a long walk, got home ......... and my waters broke on my kitchen floor!.
(I hadn't had a "show"). I had been trying the usual "self indusing" type things since week 38......sex.....eating pineapple......walks....walking up/down stairs etc etc.
They turn up when they are ready!
