I recently bought an ipod video and have created my own itunes on my laptop. I wanted to add some songs off my brothers itunes but I when I connect my ipod to his laptop it will only let me download the songs if it deletes the songs presently on my ipod. Is there any way of adding them without deleting my present songs?

Firstly ensure that the, "Manually manage music and videos" tab in itunes (when you click on your ipod) is ticked. Then providing your computers are both mac or both pc you should be able to simply drag and drop the tracks into your ipod. However unless you get another application when you connect your ipod back to your computer the songs will not come off the ipod and onto your computer. So what you need to do is not get the software as it sucks a little bit but instead to enable the ipod for disk use(this option is underneath the manually manage music option). Then you go to My computer or Finder if you use a mac and find your ipod. Open it up and you'll see Calanders, Contacts and Notes. Make a new folder called Music and throw your music files in there. When you get to your computer transfer them into your itunes and delete the music folder. Please note if they are in the music folder and not in the itunes library you can not play them. That is the best way to do that. You don't need anything else other than your ipod and cable.

not really you should download his songs onto a hard drive of some kind like a USB "stick" and then put them on your laptop to put on you ipod, ipods will always sinc up to what you connect it to not the other way around

YOUR IPOD SHOULD APPEAR AS A REMOVABLE DEVICE ON THE LEFT HAND SIDE OF THE ITUNES WINDOW, YOU SHOULD THEN BE ABLE TO LITERALLY DRAG AND DROP THE SONGS YOU WANT FROM MUSIC TO YOUR IPOD. IF YOU GET A MESSAGE ASKING IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO SYCHRONISE YOUR IPOD WITH ITUNES CLICK NO/CANCEL!

Oooops, excuse caps, good luck.

You have to delete the songs only if you were using a windows computer before and now are using an apple computer. This is because your ipod now only knows how to talk to a windows computer and cant talk to and apple computer now.

No, the easiest way is to just copy the files from your brother's computer onto a flash drive and transfer it to your computer so you can add it to your iTunes and put it on your iPod from there.

Of course, that would be illegal.....
