how can i make them smaller on screen

if the dvd player is just playing the files (jpegs) from the CD. you need to add white (or any other colour) space around the photos. use a photo editor and then add the space. Simply resizing will not work, because the player will always scale up the image to fill most of the screen. What resolution are the photos? have you compressed them too much, most photos taken by modern cameras should display on full size tv's fine??

if it is playing a video slideshow, you should have settings in the editor used to create the slideshow, for the picture size to be displayed.

Before burning, make sure that you resize your photos . Be sure to back up your original photos because resizing take away quality. Another factor to consider is DPI. If you scan your photos, scan them with the best available DPI. This will give them quality
