I've heard that you sleep 1/3 of your life away. Seems like such a waste.

It is a way. If there were a pill I could take once every 24 hours to stay awake with no side effects I would. I would sacrifice next year's cruise or road trip or flight to see my brother for that. If I cancelled trips for that, I could walk there. Plus, I could learn much more. I would become the superior human on earth because I would know everything. Either that or I would squander my extra time like I do now. I sometimes sleep only 3 hours in a night because I know it's a waste of my time! I never catch up on this sleep either. At my age, I should get 8 hours. Only time I get that much is on the weekends because it's a waste of my time! I'm not sleeping tonight, again.

Never go to the bathroom. I love my sleep too much to give it up. My dreams are very special and often telling to me as well. It's like my escape from reality. I don't get sick very often and when I do, it's usually my fault for letting myself get so run down. On the other hand, think of all the money I could save on toilet paper if I never had to buy it again for the rest of my life.

I would chose the higher form of consciousness, between wakeful and sleep. It's difficult, though, to objectively know for sure yet, with what we understand about sleep states and consciousness, to know which is truly a "higher" form of consciousness. I suspect that, as exotic and mysterious as sleep and dream activity seems, that, while wakeful consciousness may belong to the individual, sleep consciousness could be some kind of shared frequency or electrical phenomenon of like a "group" or larger consciousness, if that's what one could call it. In that case, yuk! I prefer wakeful consciousness because I don't have a good feeling about group consciousness.

On the rare occassions that I have pulled an all nighter, it surprises me how productive one can be. You could spend hours each day on your fitness, read countless numbers of books, learn languages and achieve alot.

In reality though, I think it would be very lonely spending a 1/3 or every day without any other human contact.

Would I do it - yep!

Absolutely!!!! Life is way, way, way, to short to snooze it away. There is way to much to see, learn, and do. How great would it be to spend all that sleep time doing something worthwhile. Loving better, bigger, more!!! Sharing....more of myself and taking more time to listen. (What a concept!!) It is easy to dream...you don't need to sleep....close your eyes...you can do anything or going anywhere you want.....any time you want!

it is not a waste; it is a time of relax for the brain and body and if i could without it, i think i would still sleep but minimise the rate!

No because I love to sleep. To sleep is to rest, to dream, to snuggle your head between two soft pillows on a cold night with a warm blanket or two on top of you....ZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!!!

No, I wouldn't.
"In the dream, life is beautiful.
Waking up, life is responsibility"...
I'd like to experience all parts of life rather than remembering all the pressures and loads day and night....

No, because if I didn't sleep, I wouldn't dream and I like dreaming. Dreaming let's you know yourself and anyone who doesn't dream is denying an aspect of themselves.
