From which end are you starting?

St. Louis is considered "The Gateway to the West", and defined as being the middle of the midwest. Visit all the cool neighborhoods, like The Hill, and The Loop for shopping and eating. Be sure to check out downtown for Union Station shopping, and the Arch. And Forest Park, for the free zoo, which is one of the largest zoos in the U.S., and Forest Park is the largest park in the entire U.S. While there, eat at Imos for St. Louis style pizza. Go see a Cards baseball game, they just won the World Series. STLians are big on their sports, so any football, baseball, or hockey game will surely be a blast with lots of people. Oh, the Landings for nightlife is awesome but crowded. If you want something more laid back, go to Maryland Heights. Or, for gambling and nightlife, check out the casino resorts and boats, I'd recommend Harrah's in St. Charles area. And, I'd stay at the Sheraton Hotel in Westport plaza or Harrah's.

I would also second Chicago.

Chicago is the best place to visit in the midwest with the most things to see and do, Kansas City is OK, and Indianapolis has great shopping.

Chicago has the most going on in the Midwest. You may also want to try Minneapolis-St. Paul...very clean cities with a good vibe, but don't go there in the winter...it can be brutal.

Las Vegas is not in the Midwest. Try Omaha. They have the top rated zoo in the United States.

I'm not exactly sure what qualifies as the midwest; but CLeveland has the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, foorball HOF, The Akron convention center is the site of the first women's rights convention and of course there's millinaires row and Amish country.

I would recommend Las Vegas, for sure. We've been going every year for 15 years, now, & there is always something new to see.
