I'm sorry, while Notre Dame is a storied, historical and relatively "glamourous" football program, they got flat-out embarassed, AGAIN, last night.

No. Notre Dame should have NEVER been in that game. You could tell the teams were on two different levels. Notre Dame is a big draw, and therefore gets the ratings for advertisers and gets the tickets sold out in no time, but lets face it - do folks in South Bend want to see that game? I mean, they got their asses handed to them. Did you see Brady Quinn's face at the end of that game? You could almost see him thinking, "Jamarcus just jumped me in the NFL draft".

Let's face it. Put ND where they belong in the post-season. If you get wiped the way you did against Michigan, then you probably shouldn't be playing an elite team in an elite bowl. Go back to a "middle" bowl and get a win under the leprechaun's belt, THEN play with the big boys in the BCS again.

This is said will all due respect - I know Notre Dame is a top-notch program, but why go through this?

Oh here comes the ND fans....good God please admit that you're getting by on your name. The teams you were supposed to lose to...you did. Come on, they weren't just losses either. They were embarrassments. Michigan loss? 41-17. USC? 44-24. Last night against LSU? 41-14. ND beat GT 14-10, so I wouldn't get all high on that. You had a convincing win over Penn State...but you also had 3 other MORE convincing losses....

I heard the best quote at the beginning of this year:
"Notre Dame is like locusts; They only show up every 6 or 7 years and go back into hiding the remainder of the time."

To answer the question...you are exactly right on the money thing. ND does have the history and they will do everything they can to keep that name in a big game.

Look at the cupcake schools they played during the regular season, that should have told you that they were going to get blown out. They lost to the only 2 creditable teams on their schedule, USC and Michigan.

I think they keep getting invited just like every network loves to show the Cowboys; more people want to see them lose than win.

And they've been pretty obligatory, getting their asses kicked on a regular basis.
