Because by and large Americans are not willing to risk losing what they have. If you get arrested protesting a war or a drug law you might lose your job. Most people aren't willing to get tear gassed or arrested to prove a point. If the govt instituted a draft and people got scared that they might get killed then you would have protests on the scale they had in the 60's. As for pot people are just afraid of the repercussions of even being seen at a pot rally much less getting arrested at one.

Because protesting really doesn't work. It gets attention sometimes, but that's really about it. It may make the newspaper, but no one really pays attention to protests anymore. Mainly because someone is always protesting something and people are just to busy and tired to care what the protest of the day is all about. The problem isn't with the citizens of the country, it's the idiots that are running it. They say they will do one thing to get voted in, but then they do whatever they want. What we need are less career politicians and more "real" people in office.

Because you have to have a majority that agrees with the things that you don't like about your government for starters. And about the protests, they were NEVER really about the war (although the protestors may have thought so). In reality, they were organized to promote political campaigns. Now that the campaigns are over, the professional, hired organizers have other things to do. Wait until the year before the next major election. Things will heat up again.

It is all about MONEY.I am sure you have heard this before.STABLE MONEY.YES the oil interest occupies the economic trends of the planet.even though it is poisoning itself fully in our face. What would pot legalization bring? It would bring back the poor free man.that would be nice. But in the real world ,where we must support one murderous clan extremist over another, just for an opportunity to survive, what are our options? The DIESEL MOTOR was designed to run on HEMP SEED OIL.BUT,,,the economics of oil pleased those with money to the point where you and your children's lives have no significance whatsoever, outside of supporting the extremist view that prints, again YOUR MONEY...

there isn't an easy answer to that, besides just pointing out that protests don't change anything.
the system has evolved to become stable. the government has had 200 years to find a way to stop people from effecting change. i would say that it has become quite successful. just like a parasite suppressing the immune system of its host.
