My cousin always remarks so whenever I disagree with her opinion. Can one choose to be stupid?

No but one can choose to act stupidly.

If it is a choice, one would be stupid to choose it.
(you could always choose to act stupidly as the first answer remarks).

It sounds as if your cousin is insecure in regards to her own intelligence. An opinion may be informed (or not), but if it is only an opinion, everyone can have a different one.

Peace

Seems that your cousin misses the culture of dialog and it is not bad idea to tell her so. First of all, no one is stupid. Second, no one is clever enough to have a right to tell another person that he/she is stupid. And the third: why does she think one is stupid just because one disagree with her. Ask her this question and we'll see how smart she is. Good luck!

No.... but then one can't choose to be clever either.

Your cousin would meet her man one day, whom she would think to be stupid and perhaps tell him so as well, but who would really prove to be cleverer and she would feel stupid to have thought otherwise.

The one question that puts an end to argument !

she's probably getting frustrated because she doesn't know how to respond to your argument. When people get angry and frustrated they can act irrationally. You're probably not stupid...

Nope. Not unless they purposely do something to themselves to make them mentally retarded.
