In a way, it already is. Televisions and computer monitors use a matrix of pixels to create the image. Movie theaters run a film past a super bright light at a high rate of speed. The sharpness of a movie screen image is dependant entirely on the quality of the film, which for most big-budget motion pictures is VERY high.

Edit: In retrospect, the focusing lens also plays a role in image sharpness. But that's kind of beside the point.
