I have some on my shelf, it's red in a bottle and dries rubbery on a thread screw, I always use it on something I want to keep tight.

Thread Lock is a single component anaerobic thread locking material, which is thixotropic and develops medium strength. The product cures when confined in the absence of air between close fitting metal surfaces and is particularly suitable for less active substrates such as stainless steel and plated surfaces.

Prevents loosening and leakage of threaded fasteners. Particularly suitable for applications such as pump or motor mounting bolts, engine rocker nuts or equipment housing screws, where disassembly with hand tools is required for servicing.

It is a sealant that locks threads to keep them from loosening up due to vibration. One brand is "Loctite".
There are ones that lock the threads pretty much permanently which are pretty impossible to remove without heating and ones that are meant to be removed but still keep the threads from loosening.

Usually used on bolt/nut or screw threads.

it is used on the threads of bolts to lock the nut on. very useful on bolts that are subject to a lot of vibration as on engines or moving parts. A brand name example is loc-tite. nuts can still be removed but require a little bit more force.
