the laptop in question is a latitude c540/640 series.

the scenario is this- when booting it hangs or will power off before the bios screen shows up.done dell diagnosis using their cd and nothing doing. changed memory and hard disk but nothing. SOMEBODY HELP ME

Hardware or software boot process ?

Hardware is the same as any other 8088 IBM PC compatible machine (details) :

Software would depend on the OS. The detailed process would contain mostly memory addresses loaded with hundreds of system files & commands. Not exactly good reading.

chilly boot- turn workstation off nonetheless on. heat boot- push administration alt delete to restart your workstation. A "chilly boot" will thoroughly end all techniques and sparkling your memory. With a "heat boot" you should nonetheless have techniques going and saved documents on your memory. To "boot" is to initiate your workstation. To "reboot" is to restart your workstation.
