I'm looking for the handles on outdoor water spigots. Usually round with the screw in the middle, sometimes a molded piece. I need to know what they are called so I can ask plumbing supply houses for them.

It's called a "wall hydrant". Are you looking for the type that uses a key for "security" reasons? Otherwise, wall hydrants for residential use are available at any decent hardware store. They are made so the actual seat of the valve is inside the house, and are installed with a slight pitch down to the outside. When this kind is shut off, the water drains out of the exterior part so it won't freeze. Commercial "key" types are made the same way if you specify them.

All I know is outside water spigot. When you go asking the supply houses, they will know what you mean when you tell them the round handles for outside spigots.

Here's what you do if you have a broken part--I've had the same problem just this past summer. The round handle-for lack of a better term--broke on mine. I took it with me to a hardware outlet and they matched it up for me in less than five minutes. They aren't one size fite all so it's best if you take in the old one or you might make several trips back and forth for exchanges before you get the right one.

sounds like lime improve. troublesome water does this. try procuring some style of delimer (CLR. Lime-away, etc.) and pour it over the spigot, brush and rinse some cases. be careful!!! this stuff is caustic. it would want to burn your epidermis and eyes.

Maybe you're looking for valve, "hose hydrant", "hose bibb", or "dripping handle"?
