Do you think the governments are scared of the electric motor(engine) as when oil is needed only to grease a bearing is the time the governments loses trillions in revenue and the electric car companys need more funding to free the people of the burden of paying for a pollution that causes sickness to all living things .What are your views?.One dollar donated to research for the electric motor (engine) could see an electric engine that could be placed in the family car at low cost.?

The electric vehicle, when it is adopted by the public, certainly will bring great change along with it, and governments are not fond of the unknown.

Contrary to some disinfo you may have heard, electric cars are far more efficient than gasoline vehicles. A gas engine is less than 25% efficient. Electric motors are more than 90% efficient, and delivering electricity by wire is 95% efficient. This beats trucking gasoline to thousands of gas stations! Fuel also burns far more efficiently at a big plant than it does in your little car.
*
I can prove this by looking at fuel prices - after all, you will be paying for fuel no matter how it gets to you, right? About how much does gasoline cost per mile? It varies of course, but it's somewhere around 10 to 15 cents per mile. How much does it cost to drive electric? The Toyota RAV4 EV, for example, gets 4 miles per kilowatt-hour. Off-peak (nighttime) electricity costs about 3 to 10 cents per kilowatt-hour, depending where you live. This means driving electric only costs about a penny per mile - MUCH cheaper than gasoline, and it's all due to the greater efficiency of EVs.
*
Efficiency improvements also mean less pollution - because you are driving further on less fuel. Remember also, that only about half of electricity is made from burning dirty fuel (and only 3% is made by burning oil.)

An electric car can be had for as little as $5000. For this price you get a conversion - a gas car converted to electric. Cars like this look and handle like normal cars, and do freeway speeds, but have limited driving ranges. This is the kind of car I drive. More info here:

If you want a new electric car, here's an exciting one, coming out this year. It will go up to 250 miles on a charge, carries 5 people plus cargo, and can charge in only ten minutes. Info here:

The Phoenix will be expensive though. If you don't need to get on the freeway, you might like the Zap. It's a very fun vehicle that only costs $10,000.

I'll bet you've never heard of any of these cars. Popular culture, with help from the media and various corporate interests, continues to propogate the myth that such cars are impossible. Join me - drive an impossible car!

There is no such thing as an electric engine. An engine requires combustion. if its electric its a motor. and the reason we don't have more electric cars as of yet is because the people involved with the car industry don't want to put money into something that would put so many people out of work. Plus there just isn't enough knowledge in the electric car industry yet to make it affordable for everybody. Not to mention where would you get recharged at and how long would it take your trip planning would have to be pretty accurate.

Electric cars have their downsides. They are inherently inefficient because you need to drag about a ton of batteries everywhere you go. The range figures are usually best case scenario, at night with the wipers, lights and heater on you won't get far. I think if the auto manufacturers could sell EVs, they would be building EVs. EVs don't bother the oil industry because if they sold less fuel, they could just go out and sell more pantyhose. Besides, a lot of electricity is generated by...burning oil.
