wouldn't a better question be : why would Canada become a superpower like the USA?
what is the point? a huge military certainly didn't help on 9/11 or in new Orleans. peacekeeping instead of policing. if you try to do your best to help the people that are in the most need, u build more friendships and gain world respect. ya i know that it may happen here, but what is the real chance of someone attacking Canada? pretty slim, not because of our military might, but because we treat all people like they are family!
oh ya: and what do u think, that as soon as u cross the border in to Canada that the temperature drops 50 degrees? when u see our weather reports try to remember that we use Celsius not Fahrenheit, -10celsius = 14fahrenheit

No because a number of factors.
Population, Canada has a small percentage of habitable land which limits the possibility of a large population.
Military Technology, Canada is decades behind the United States in this category.
History, Canada lacks a history of expansion and imperialism which the United States was born out of.

People=Gross National Product.
People=marketplace size.
People=taxpayer base.
I could go on - but I'm guessing you get the picture...

Canada could stay its very own united states for many distinctive reasons. Canadians and human beings confident are comparable in some approaches, yet are extremely distinctive in others. as an occasion, in our political critiques, Canadians are frequently better "left-wing" than human beings are, and if Canada have been to boost into yet another state then this could reason important issues between the "Canadians" and the "human beings". yet one extra reason is our distinction in tolerance to many distinctive factors of society. Canada, frequently, is plenty extra accepting of gay marriage than human beings are, and because there are lots of distinctive cultures throughout Canada, we are extra open to distinctive religions and customs. i'd desire to make it sparkling that i'm no longer announcing human beings are not accepting of those matters, yet i'm announcing that throughout my view, and what i've got been taught in Canadian politics training, my factor is shown.

California has about (pronounced "a-boat") the same population, but yet the GDP is much larger. They're both socialistic enough to quench that GDP, with a few more tax hikes.
Canadian women are less artificial and plastic. California wines are much better. For that reason alone, shouldn't we all get along?

I think Canada is content in their role of being the little brother of the US first of all they don't have the population for a superpower.
Second in their hearts they know we will defend them if they are attacked, so they don't have to spend a large part of their GNP for defense, because they have big brother living across the street.
