I am officially freaked out. There was a shooting at my old high school in Tacoma, Washington. How can we stop stuff like this from happening? WHY is it happening? And who do we blame?

I truelly believe that we need to educate our youth and parents, staff and students must form an active network. We must make sure that our children are kept safe when they are not under our watchful eyes. The government needs to have restrictions on gun laws and who can obtain a license to own a gun. here in a Australia we have a no guns law, sadly this law came out only after many people were shot during the Port Arthur Masacre years ago by Martin Bryant ( he's locked away now). My hearts bleed for the parents who lost children husbands and wives who lost each other and siblings. We can not blame anyone to blame is to take no responsibility, taking action is better than putting the blame on someone.God Bless

School shooting is one of the product of this selfish Society. The root cause for the shooting is the gun. Why on earth MAN should produce guns and weapons. We live in a Society whose is selfishness. They call it ECONOMICS. You can stop these irrational acts by changing the base of the Society from selfishness to non selfishness. How one can do it?
Establish a Society without selfishness wherein all are equal. Eradicate all kinds of weapons, eradicate words like poverty, hatredness, religion etc. This can be done by winning elections in all democratic countries and establishing the Society without selfishness. A detailed plan is ready. If you are interested you can e-mail me at bcfsba@yahoo.com

Actually we cannot do a thing to stop it individually.

In North Carolina several years ago it was a "trend" for school kids to call in these threats themselves.

These clever little people discovered that every time they called in a 'bomb threat' or a 'threat of violence'..... they got a day off....

So for five months, every week there was another school that had a phone threat.

Teach your kids to be more aware of people and things around them. The teachers now have their hands tied by the ACLU and stupid parents demanding everything of these educators. In many cases it is the children that are now in control of their classrooms and not the teachers anymore.

Copy cat! The media! When the first school shoot happened my children were in elementary schools. The schools went into lock down and had there doors which were always kept opened locked. For the older students in middle and high school metal detectors went in to pick up guns or knives.

It starts at home with the personal responsibility of the parents to raise the kids to do what is right. The most important teaching that the young need in today's time is respect.

I think it all starts at home. The lack of values, morals and lack of teaching kids about consequences, and just plain respect for others in our children now. The lack of parents taking responsibility in raising there kids., Not taking the time to know there kids and being there for them to talk to . Not teaching them self esteem and right from wrong and the presence of GOD. Yes thats right ACLU I said GOD....in there homes.

Its too easy to get guns now a days. Poeple can machine guns and rifles with ease. The only people in society that need guns are police. Nobody else really needs them.

Start teaching kids not to shoot other humans before they give them access to guns.

Banned counterstrike and FPS games......these are the sort of influence they have on our kids.

Not forgeting the parents role in teaching the right set of values.
