Yes we should or at least try. But then, there are exes that are better left cut from our lives. What's best is to make the end of relationship friendly or amiable.

I would have to say no. It would be unhealthy, make you want to go back at some point in time to try and "fix" what caused the problem to begin with, and can blind you from any real opportunity that might present itself.
