Rap died with Tupac Shakur.
Before, the superficial stuff would be in one song on the album...now it's all you hear. The car, the bling, the booty...rinse, repeat. Blah.
Hip-hop died awhile ago.
I remember when it was just cuts and beats...now it sounds like a corporate jingle.
When I want to listen to Hip-hop, I cue up Run DMC.

I'm no Rap or Hip-hop hater...I'm just disappointed with the direction these 2 genres are going.
Where are the innovators?

Music dying is symbollic of the original form morphing or deviating into something else. In the case of rap from hip-hop, and hip-hop being dead, most people are referring to hip hop being dead becase current rap is forumlated for commercial purposes whereas original hip hop was either a positively motivating story or unique expression of a person.

Your quote however, sound like that speaker just dislikes the music and is celebrating decreasing popularity.

well rock and roll died so why not rap. Genres of music "die" in the industry but not within the universe. As long as there is someone somewhere performing it in it's pure form, it is not dead in that sense.

It's going to be a thing of the past someday. The sooner the better, I think.

Just smile and nod your head and back away along the same path you entered: if they haven't shot you yet, you haven't gotten too close their still, and it's safe to go back that way.

Except, of course, for the gators.
