My boyfriend and I have been together for 2 years. Since we started dating and having intercourse I have been getting Bacterial Vaginosis. It is treated with antibiotics then it goes away for a month then comes back again. Finally I talked to my doctor about 3 months ago and was sent to a specialist. The specialist ran many tests and yet again found bacterial vaginosis. He prescribed me a pill that was stronger than the antibiotic I have been given previously. Then He also said to insert boric acid tablets which will help regulate the normal ph levels in my vagina. I used them and it helps but I have noticed that everytime my boyfriend and I have sex, the next day I get an odour again. Then i insert a tablet and it gets better and goes away. When we use condoms the smells doesnt come. He is a very clean person. Could I be sensitive and allergic to his sperm and are the boric acid tablets safe to use on a regular basis?

STD tests have been taken over and over and over again. They have all come out negative for both of us. We don't cheat so lets not be rude and say he is cheating on me and lets not say he is dirty because he is cleaner than any person I know and smells so good. Immature people need not answer this question. Preferably only females who have had this problem and have beat it. Thanks!

Bacterial vaginosis (BV) is the most common cause of vaginal infection (vaginitis).

Most cases of bacterial vaginosis occur in sexually active women between the ages of 15 and 44, especially after contact with a NEW PARTNER. Condoms do not appear to provide protection, but use of spermicides increases BV risk somewhat. Although BV appears to be associated with and triggered by sexual intercourse, there is no clear evidence of sexual transmission.

Although the exact cause of bacterial vaginosis is not well understood, certain tips, if adhered to, can bring down the risk considerably. Let’s have a look at them:

a. Avoid casual sex: This will prevent your vagina from coming in contact with an infected partner. This includes not having vaginal, oral or anal sex. So, remain faithful to a single partner and have sex with him or her only. If you do have sex with a new partner, always use condoms.

b. Avoid douching: You may think douching is an effective way of cleaning the vagina, but what it actually does is to remove some of the ‘good’ bacteria that protect you from infection. This increases your chances of getting bacterial vaginosis.

c. Follow your physician’s advice: He or she may suggest regular pelvic examinations. If you’re pregnant and have had a premature delivery or low birth weight baby in the past, your physician will suggest a bacterial vaginosis test. If your physician has prescribed some medicine for bacterial vaginosis, complete the course, even if the symptoms go away.

hope this helps u...

You said your boyfriend is clean so has he been checked out by a doctor? I would have him go to see if he is the problem. Also YES you can have a sensitivity or allergic reaction to his sperm. Since you don't have the odor when you use a condom the problem is his sperm. Like I said have him get checked out by a doctor to make sure he doesn't have any STD's and to see if he is giving you the infection over and over. If he wont go I would be suspicious.

with all the details u have provided.. i dont think ure guy has any problem but its not advisable to keep inserting tablets so repeatedly...my bet is that the smell is basically the vaginal secretions that r secreted during intercourse... for some it may stink.. i wud suggest that u use anti fungal powders after bath and otehrwise too as a dusting powder around ure inner thighs..they r available over the counter.... wud keep ure hygiene in check and r good to smell too... plz avoid antibiotics so often and drink lots of water.. hope this helps..

Well i would definately ask that you take him to the doc with you. Anything is possible to be allergic to....ok so use condoms untill he can go with you cuz i assume you have talked to him bout it being better when he uses condoms. i have heard thru a doctor that some soaps/body washes can cause irritation and/or odors in the vaginal area. i use dove body wash, its very mild to the skin of all areas since we women love to stay clean. Also if u take a lot of baths/or bubble baths, i have heard that that can cause irritation and/or odor. Goodluck Im sure all will work out for the best.

i'm a prepare dinner, so the only issues i will incredibly evaluate the healthful odor of a vagina/vulva to are ingredients and such... and the closest i will think of of is a reasonably gentle mix of unpolluted oysters and grated cakes - frequently extra on the sea-like side, yet no longer "fishy" and not unsightly. It frequently smells a sprint better once you're sexually aroused, yet no longer continuously. If the release there is clean or somewhat milky (would be tinted faintly yellow or brown), slippery to in line with risk a sprint sticky, and scents "earthy, animal and a sprint like the sea", it is purely approximately actually healthful and reliable. If it smells quite fishy or in any different case undesirable, it is probable an infection and you will desire to ensure a checklist.

You can try this. My grandmother used to say that this is a sure fired remedy. Take a bath in warm water with baking soda in it. Just enough water that your legs are covered, and about 1/2 a box or 250 grams of baking soda. Soak in the warm bath solution for about 30 minutes. Do that twice a day for about a week and the odour should be gone. ****Be sure to use condoms for the week you're using the bath solution.****
I've used this treatment before and it really does work.

girls can be allergic to sperm. I have heard that if a girl is allergic, then the Ph levels change and it allows bacteria to grow. If you need a test, go to a sperm bank and see if other semen causes you to be allergic (or have sex with another dude and see what happens)
ps...ignore the last suggestion, LOL

take him to the doctor with you and have him tested he could be a carrier or have some type infection himself. He could be reinfecting you every time you get better. Also is he circumcised? that can sometimes cause infections in the woman. The fact is he needs to get checked as well as you. When you take the medicine do they give him medicine as well?

maybe he has some type of infection that he is passing along to you via intercourse. he should get checked out himself just to be sure. i have heard of people being allergic to other people's sperm. it is possible. i suggest you seek out another specialist... one that is more familiar with sex related issues.
