what exactly is an enhanced disclosure. Everytime I apply for a job I am told that I will be required to provide an enhanced disclosure.

Could someone please tell me what this is?

It`s a CRB check. Criminal Records Bureau. It will tell an employer if you have a criminal record, or not. Always needed for care work.

Its a CRB check. Certain jobs require that everyone has a check. Anything involving children automatically requires a check. It is becoming increasingly common for ALL jobs in the NHS. Many jobs in care situations also require them.

They can take quite a while to come through and there is no short cut.

It is a Criminal Records Check but there are two levels.

One is basic and one is enhanced. Enhanced is usually for people applying to work with children, in hospitals, in security or the services e.g. police etc.

Never heard of it.

According to Google, an "enhanced disclosure" in the UK is a request for a criminal record for potential job applicants. If you've never been in prison or convicted of a crime, that may be why you've never heard of it.

If this is where you live, you can make yourself look better than other applicants by having it ready for them (with a very recent date).

(If my theory is correct, a lot of ex-cons just answered your question! ;) )

It is better known as The Criminal Records Bureau.Basically you must ask them to supply your prospective employer with your details of any record of police involvement. Some employers want references they can check, back as far as 20 years, and be able to verify them.I hope you kept accurate records.
