Why did nazis(hitler n al) wanted to get rid of the jews???

After WWI Germany was in a very desperate state. Inflation, poverty, and starvation had torn the country apart and the war and Treaty of Versailles left them humiliated and broken. It was during this vulnerable time that Hitler rose to power. In order to gain control of the people he knew he had to unite them under one cause and create pride. He described a typical German (blonde hair, blue eyes)as the "ideal race". This helped the Germans to feel proud again. Then he needed a scapegoat, or a group of people that the German people could unite against and blame all of their problems on. The Jews were an easy target because they typically were very successful and wealthy business men who prospered even while the country was economically ruined. People already felt a degree of jealousy and hatred towards the Jewish people for this reason and Hitler used this to fuel his own personal campaign against the Jewish people and unite them in this cause.

"Damer" has a very very good answer. I just wanted to add a few things:


*It's only rumored that Hitler had a great grandfather/mother that was a Jew. To me, it still sounds far-fetched.
*Another reason why the Germans were swept up in the hating-game: Germans are very efficient and determined. However, and do forgive me for saying this, they find it hard to think out of the box. It's all rules and order (which is good up to a point).
*At the time, Jews were involved with the communist party in Russia. They wanted equal social status (but it went too far). Never mind that some Jews were in the democratic party, and nevermind that originally Hitler's party was also called socialistic...
Logically, this doesn't make sense. It's an oxymoron. That's just the thing- hating the Jews doesn't make sense.
*Just yesterday, my history teacher told me Hitler used to rape his niece. She committed suicide.
*Today medical advancments have shown us that alone, the Aryan race is very weak. Unfortunately, light-skinned people (+blue eyes) get burnt more easily from the sun. Alone, every race is weak, acutually. A person built from all the races has the strongest hereditary qualities.

Basically the nazis believed in a heirerachy of RACES.
They believed that on the top was the AYRAN. He was supposed to be the culture inventor. The one superior type of human being capable of inventing and concieving civilization. A race which had a special attatchment and affinity to the land. Below them was the races which were culture bearers CHINESE: ******: MEDITTEREANIAN PEOPLES and others. They could only recieve culture from the Aryan. But they could bear the culture and spread it. They naturally were inferior to the Aryan.
But there was another race:an incidious race:which had no redeeming feature whatsoever. This race was the JEWS. They had no affinity for the land, no cultural sense and were insanely jealous of the superiority of the Aryan. They were culture destroyers. They spoiled and bastardised everthing they touched. They were cunning, almost as cunning as the Aryan and were extremely dangerous and hell bent on the destruction and/or bastardisation of the Ayran.
Hitler was believe extremely that the most important thing was to keep racial purity. Especially for the Aryan. In fact to whole point, the whole belief, the whole purpose of nazism was the preservation of the purity of the Ayran and the advancement of such. The nazis believed that if the Ayran race was polluted by cross breeding then the quality of the race would go down and consequently it's accomplishments would also. They believed that the type and superiority of a race was condusive to their potental for accomplishment. And the number one threat was the JEW. In fact Hitler in his first book condemned the seduction of pure German(Ayran) maidens by bow legged Jewish bastards. In his second book(written in 1928 but not published-found after the war) he warns against the officer class mating with department store Jewesses. And in his Mein Kamp he said that if the Jews bring about a destrucive war upon Germany-every Jew in Europe will be exterminated.
In fact Hitler got his idea of the Ayran from the ancient tribes of northern India who conquered the ancient indus valley civilizations of MOHENDOJERO and HARRAPA in about 1,300 B.C. He got the rest of his nonesense from either the prevailing extreme right wing ideas of the time or from his own perverted view of the world due to his upbringing and life as well as his disposition. To add salt to his wounds there was the case of the Gypsies. Comming from northern India there racial credentias were impeccable. However for his own convenience, Hitler, made up the story that they were a vagabond class of criminals and petty thieves. So much for the integrity of his idealogy. It shows you what madness was involved. And to attempt to destroy an entire people upon this madness. For Hitler and his nazi idiology, there is a saying appropriate- THOSE WHO THE GODS WOULD DESTROY-THEY FIRST RENDER MAD.

After Germany got pummeled economically when they lost WWI, the quality of life for its citizens didn't have much quality at all. Hitler and his Nazi party promised they would revitalize Germany and achieve its former glory in the world arena. After he became Chancellor of Germany, he declared part of the problem with the pathetic economy was that most businesses were owned by Jewish people. This became part of the reasoning behind his "Jewish Problem".
Rumor has circulated for decades also that his father was Jewish or maybe grandfather or something and he had grown up watching the guy beat his mother fostering a childhood, and therefore lifelong, hate of Jewish persons.

Bottom line in my opinion, Hitler was just some charismatic idiotic psychopath who was good at directing mob mentality.

after WWI germany was facing the worst debt and inflation they had ever. at that time Hitler rose to power, and blamed their problems on the jewish people. he also believed Jews, along with all non Arayans (healthy white blonde caucasians) were not human. the people of Germany had harbored anti semitiscim for a while, but Hitler used it to gain the trust of the majority. He was a sick twisted rasicst, antisemite, and bigot who used the power he gained to destroy all those he saw as less then human. films like Shoa and Shindler's List are good ways to learn about the horrors of the holocaust and it's reprocutions. i just wanted to add that Hitler was not Jewish, despite what some people have said. he was pure Austrian, those who say he was jewish are listening to unfounded rumors which have been proven false.

They were a clasic example of racism....Hitler thought of himself (and his race) as the supreme race, and thought of all the other kinds of races not fit to be on the same planet as him....It wasnt just the jews that were persecuted...They were just the biggest group...but anyone that didnt believe the same things he did, or have the classic "german" look, were captured and executed....It didnt pay to have brown eyes and brown hair in Germany during that time.
