Simple. There is no fact that will make me believe the war on drugs hurts america. Sure it costs money. It is not my fault that others traffic drugs and waste our money. But if you do nothing about it, then you might as well be contributing towards it. The whole problem is that the U.S. is not going full force against it just like the whole immigration issue; if they just put all their efforts towards it, it would come to a halt. America needs regulation, this isn't a free for all land like many think it is.

It's sort of a human behaviour question.

For most people it's simple

drug use = BAD

Also...

The prevailing attitude is that if you make a law against something the problem will go away.

Therefore you have to make drug use illegal.

Also

These same people also believe an emotional arguement that if you make bad things legal, then everybody will be doing it.

When you have a subject that is prone to emotional arguements like drug legalization, people tend to stick to their emotional arguemtents, and aren't capable of fathoming factual arguements. They just can't "see" how those arguements are possible.

It is a fact that in most neighbourhoods in this country, it's easier to buy drugs and guns than it is to purchase cigarettes, and this is something that just can't be comprehended by those that hold their emotional arguements so dear.

And I had to edit my answer because I just noticed that 4 people gave you question a thumbs down. I had to give you a thumbs up, just because.

But this is exactly my point. Now many they gave you thumbs down because this is the second time you submitted the question, but I happen to think it's an important question. How many others simply saw you as attacking their emotional beliefs on the subject and thought "How dare you imply that drug use is good?" completely missing your point and not "thinking" at all about what it is that you are trying to convey?

Drugs affect people from every walk of life... every socio-economic group.
Do we really want to legalize drugs?
Which one's? All of them?
Do we really want people working with heavy equipment on LSD? Or how about Heart Surgeons on Crack? Or how about Child Care Providers on Angel Dust?
Is it only legal to certain individuals under certain circumstances?

How do we safegaurd our girls & women against Ruffies and other date rape drugs?
Do I really need to go on??
Can you see how ridiculous your question is?
Do you have a mother, father, daughter, son or anyone in your life who would be compromised by legalizing drugs? Yes! You do?
If you choose to do drugs...you can try to find justification for it instead of getting help. But I for one am not going to help you!!
Bless you! Good luck!

Drugs can be allowed as long as it is monitored closely and regulated to the fullest because drugs kill and can be a menace to the society.

Are you back with the same question again?
You are way out in left field.
Legalizing drugs will only hurt us and you know it.
