Terri Irwin was aked this same question and I am going to go along wit her on this one... her answer was.. what purpose would it serve to show a great man dying?
we all know how he died, odds are the people who want to see the tape arent watching it for "educational" purposses, they are watching it for shock value.
Steve Irwin was an awesome man who died way to soon, lets remember him for what he did.. not how he died.

I know a lot of people don't want to hear this, but your co worker has a valid point. My uncle is a police officer and he said they watch tapes of people being shot and killed in gas station hold ups and bank robberies because he said they have to learn what the victims did wrong and if the robber was just a cold blooded killer or did the victim to something to cause the robber to shot them. My uncle said as grusome as some of those tapes are, they have to watch them to learn from them. What mistake did Steve make? Maybe he was way too close to the stingray or maybe he agitated it in some kind of way. We don't know. But maybe someone in the same field as Steve was in can see that tape and not make the same mistake. You have a strong point also. The tape would more than likely fall into the wrong hands and it would end up all over the place and Steve's kids may see it and that would be terrible. I think you both have good points.

Honestly... if you say that the ones on you tube are cruel, can you imagine what the real one would be like.. Everyone always has there excuses on why to use it.. Oh i wanna use it for a school report.. I have an assignment on Steve... etc etc. No the footage of his death will not be released, there is rum ours that it may have even been buried in Steve's casket, or buried somewhere in the Zoo.. The Irwin manager released an official statement like a week ago saying that the tape will be destroyed and will never see the light of day. Be serious.. His wife declined a state funeral so they could have their privacy.. why would she release his death if she didn't want any one present that wasn't close to him their??? You need to think about the facts for yourself next time.. and by the way... there is like another 1000 posts you could have read to get your answer.

I agree with you. Nothing like that should ever be made public? I know if I lost a loved one in such a traggic way I would never want anyone to see it. In a way it would be like a sick form of entertainment. Everyone already knows how he was killed (the media painted a pretty good picture for us) So as for your coworker thinking it would be educational, I think it would be more scary then helpful. I mean, Steve was extremely educated in his field and he still had an accident. It would only hurt people not help them!!!

I feel that people already got the message without showing the video, that sometimes interacting with dangerous creatures can be fatal just by knowing that Steve Irwin is no longer with us because of it. I don't like to see the death of anyone whether they were famous or not. I really respect Jom's answer.

That tape should NEVER be relased.
That is an extremely private matter, and should never be shown. Watching someone die... and actually die, is tramatizing... Why in the world anyone want to see it?

I believe that to show the moment of his death is disrespectful and demonstrates how callous and coarsened our society has become. Death is not entertainment. Professionals in the same field as he already know what the dangers are!

That tape should NEVER be released.
That poor family.
its not educational it was a accident
I have swam with stingrays several times and it was just his "time" and he was blessed to die "quickly" in a manner best suited for him.
