I'm assuming they try to draft a franchise QB, which is their biggest need....
Quinn with the first overall?
Or trade down for Russell or Smith? If so, who do they trade with?

I doubt they'd take a WR first overall, even without Porter or Moss they have Gabriel, Curry, Whitted....they're very deep at WR. Jordan is a good RB, if his MCL heals up properly and they dont decide to release him before his bonus is up.
Taking the top prospect at QB would be much more of an upgrade for their offense than Petersen at RB or the top WR would be.
And I'd doubt they'd trade any lower than 5th, so unless you think Detroit (Joey Harrington worked out so nicely...), Cleveland (Has Frye), or Tampa (Simms and Gradkowski already) would want to take a QB, they'd be able to take the guy they want and not have to pay him top-overall-pick salary.

The Raiders offense is worse than an expansion team. They have to rebuild their offensive line. The problem is they have one of the worst offensive line in Raider history and you cant fix your entire line in a year with just one draft. It takes at least 3 or 4 years for an offensive line to find their identity and become dominate and thats with no rookies.Trade down and get more players to fill the gaps because even Jesus himself couldnt qauterback behind that offensive line right now

If you trade down and want a "franchise QB" then there is absolutely no reason to trade down and draft Troy Smith, he will never be a franchise QB. Russell, he's very talented but it depends alot on how well he continues to develop, same with Quinn. Both are much better right now as QB's in general than Smith is, and I dont see Smith ever progressing.
If I had the first pick this season and I was in control of the pathetic Raiders I would trade down with the Jets, Bucs, Lions, or (i forget the 5th team) and pick up some players and then draft whatever team needs there are. The Raiders biggest need is their offensive line, not QB.
This is what I would do. I would trade with the Jets (who have either the 3rd or 4th pick) for Chad Pennington, he is one of the most accurate passers in the NFL and he can lead a team (as he's proven alot). He has been injury prone but this year he seemed to pull it all together and he led the Jets to the playoffs when no one gave him or them a chance. Then I would pick up an offensive lineman with the 3rd or 4th pick, the OT from Wisconsin if he is available if not then the C from WVU or even the OG from LSU, and then the Jets could pick up Quinn. The Raiders and ppl in general arent smart enough to realize Chad Pennington is the real deal so in that case I would trade up the first pick for the 4th - 6th for a proven offensive lineman and then draft Russell with their new pick.
Thats just me...

I don't see how they can take Quinn over Russell after tonight, Russell looks like he has more talent. So I would pass on both and take Adrian Peterson running back Oklahoma University. Take that guy and you will have a good back for years, and still might be able to get a good Qb in the 2nd round or you can give Walters another year to see if he can develope into a good pro.

Can't trade down for Russell. If you pass on him with the first pick, he will not be available wherever you traded to. He is a definite top 5 pick, most likely going to Detroit if Oakland passes on him. By the way, they should take Russell. He is a better player, a better qb, and a better projected nfl-er than quinn. All quinn is is a choke job, which, now that I think about it, fits with the raiders.

wcbaseball4 is such a meathead, the Jets don't have the 3rd or 4th pick in the NFL draft. Last time I checked the Jets are in the F*ckin playoffs, plus the Jets will never give up Chad Pennington to the damn Raiders. So why don't you do some research before writing about a whole page on how the Raiders are gonna get the Jets' 3rd overall draft pick.

They need line help BAD.
They also may end up needing some WRs, depending upon what pans out the Moss and Porter.
I would be very suprised if they keep the #1 pick. Cleveland might want to move up.
This is a bad year to be #1.

brady quinn wants to play for clevland, clevland wants brady quinn... watch for the raiders to trade with the browns (the browns have the 3rd or 4th pick) much like the manning/rivers trade
