I think it might be to make you have to watch it to figure out who someone is. its really annoying when i see an actor i recognize and cant place where hes from, so i have to keep watching till i finally figure it out. so it works on people like me...

I believe it is the pilot thing. A majority of new shows seem to last 2 seasons or less. I think the networks want to see the public's reaction to the characters so they can create the "permanent line-up". I have seen shows that start with no theme but have a new introduction after a couple seasons.

Air time is expensive and that is time they can spend selling ads. In the case of a REALLY POPULAR show it's more time they can use to fill content. Also, theme songs used to be on TV Show albums that woul be sold at record stores but no one buys TV albums anymore so the Network execs don't want to spend money developing a theme song when they won't be able to market the song alone.

well i think they might want to increase the length of the show or maybe bcoz most of us dont read it
