Is it possible to use our index fingers in texting?

By using your thumb you are keeping the other hand free for any other work. If you choose to use index finger for texting you will have to use the other hand for holding it. (Remember we use finger for inserting numbers on panel of a password protected gate entry. And not the thumb)
The other benefit the thumb has against finger is that it has got better movement than finger (vertical, horizontal and rotary on its axis). While finger has only vertical movement and very restricted horizontal movement.
It is possible to use index finger in texting but it not the most convinient.

Thats because, when you hold your mobile in your hands, thumb is in the best position to text. Try texting thru index index finger, it is a pain.

Usually i use the other 4 fingers to hold my phone... but I guess it's possible... though I don't know why you'd even want to, unless your thumb was broken or cut off or something. Even then why wouldn't you just use the other thumb?

The thumb is more mobile and the index finger is your prerogative.

not a big issue ,thumb is nearest to the mobile.
