Pro-anorexia ("pro-ana") support groups. I thought about doing that for a sociology thesis; they're really quite fascinating.

Behavioral science? Wow, that sounds awesome.
I suggest the way people behave toward different religion. That's a tough and controversial one, but I think it would be a hot subject for a thesis.
Or you could go with the prisoner one. That would be sweet too.

I think there would be some interesting work around hoarding behaviors. For example, some people "hoard" animals -- they have 15 or 20 or more. How can they be helped? Why do they do it? Do they ever get over it? What happens when the government takes their animals away?
There's a guy named Dr. Randy Frost who has done some work on hoarding, and I heard him speak about it. I've heard that animal hoarders can't be helped.

I think a good topic would be the increasing feelings of detachment within our society. This is affecting both rural and urban settings.

i've always wondered what the correlation is between adhd, autism, asperger's, oppositional defiant disorders, reactive attachment disorders, etc, and left-handedness. it's something i noticed when i was working with severely emotionally disturbed children, and my own son...it seems a lot of the kids are left-handed, and more so among the boys.

Hmm... I don't know if this is good or bad..
What about... How people feel about themselves? Like almost all people deep down feel like they're ugly, inferior, etc., and that other peoples' lives are much better than his/her own.
