The first place you should look is online. Witchvox.com is a good place to start and you can also advertise your planned group there. Research places of interest, especially those that have a long history behind them. Speak to the "locals" in and around your areas about potentially "haunted" locations. You will also need to advertise - whether online, word of mouth, friends or family, or in newspapers - to at least make people aware of your group.

You might also want to befriend a parapsychologist, a medium or two, and an experienced "paranormal investigator". Again, it's a matter of asking around.

Some of the equipment you might need: a digicam, a tape recorder, a log book, a camera and a crystal pendulum. I would say that these are the essential basics, since you will want to be gathering some solid evidence for your group.

It might take some time establishing your group, but you can start out with a group of like-minded friends and go to some haunted locations to conduct "personal" investigations. Then, write down your findings in the log book and place them on a website, including any "anomalous" photos or digicam images you may have found, such as "orbs", "mist" or "apparitions". That way you can also advertise your group with more substance. It's not a simply matter of saying "Oh, I'm creating a paranormal group. Wanna join?" You will need something that people can see and identify with.

The idea is to "start small, but think big". Oh, yes, as Vaughn said. "Paranormal investigation" isn't just about "ghost hunting", it's about gathering information and proof, and researching. When you refer to it as "ghost hunting" it has the same connotatons as "witch hunting". LOL So when referring to your group, try to stay clear of terms such as "ghost hunting" or "ghost busters", as they are deemed amateurish in some parapsychological circles and you might attract some wannabe's (experience taught me that one). "Paranormal" tends to cover a whole lot nowadays. As an additional note, many parapsychologists refer to "ghosts" as "entities", "discarnate entities", "apparitions" or "discorporates", or even "manifests", depending on the nature and type of haunting. And make sure you can separate natural fears, environmental or surrounding influences, etc. as sometimes what you'll perceive as a "haunting" CAN be attributed to something more naturally occcurring.

That's a start anyway. Hope it helps some and points you in the right direction.

You might be able to put up notices looking for people with similar interests in your local gaming store or occult bookstore. Decide what your purpose is--to hunt ghosts just for the heck of it? That's fairly lightweight. In Ghosthunters, for example, they are looking for proof in order to add to the literature of the profession and to satisfy their own personal interest in the subject matter. That's why they're so adamant about catching things on video or tape, and why they're so strict about accepting whether something's a real paranormal incident.

Definitely read a lot of books on the subject (they do exist). An easy thing to start with would be to take a tape recorder into a cemetery (during the day; most cemeteries are closed at night) or to other places you believe might be haunted, then start listening to the results with the volume up--which, by the way, is the long, boring, grueling part. See if you can find some EVP. I'm pretty sure there are sites on the Internet if you just do a search on "hunt ghosts" where you can share your findings.

Good luck.

First off you do not ever charge for investigations or anything. You do get a couple of friends that want to do it with you and go to some places that you think are haunted and start off with an audio recorder and an emf dectector so you can see if its paranormal or not as high emf readings can make you feel nauseous and feel like you are being watched. but most of all be careful and don't go alone.

First thing you need? a catchy theme song.!Then perform it i na popular genre, like hiphop, rock and roll, or maybe even Emo.

Then go down-town, play it at bars and what not and try to get people to become ghost hunters.

We would probably get along, I am a Ninja myself, and our only other real competition are the pirates and the jehovah's witnesses. But you and i are way cooler than them.

Good luck,
Your friendly neighborhood Irish ninja

You don't. If you play with fire, you might just get burned. PS.. If you want to Ghost hunt, look in the Bible and find the Holy Ghost aka Holy Spirit.
