Windows XP kinda has as slow start up and I think thats natural. Either that you have a virus. Can it be RAM?

I use the program "Chameleon Startup Manager" for it.
You can find it here:

It disables any startup programs and fully controls startup by selecting the programs to be launched, while customizing the startup settings (ie how often and when programs should be launched, etc).

defrag your hard drive
run>msconfig, remove some startup programs that you don't need and aren't required to load windows, etc...
run >services.msc.... change some services to manual..
however, if you don't understand the msconfig or services.msc, just defrag your hard drive or you could risk screwing up your computer.
