You are obviously not a very experienced airline traveller if you think that is bad. As a general rule flying in Australia is slightly better than flying in the rest of the world because we don't usually have more air traffic than the major airports can cope with.

BUT...Air travel always, Always, ALWAYS has it's ups and downs. European and North American airports frequently have delays because the volume of air traffic is so high, not to mention in the winter when flights have no other choice but to be cancelled, diverted or made late because of blizzards and severe weather.

I was in Fiji once and our flight was delayed from midday to well after midnight because the airport fire brigade decided to go on strike, and no aeroplanes were allowed to take off or land in that time.

Yes it is annoying and I'm sure you were angry, but just like trains and buses have delays, so do aeroplanes, but with aeroplanes, safety is a much bigger issue.

Jet star was only set up to break up the qantas workers unions. Basically they are moving all the union managed functions from qantas to jetstar, where they set up individual workers contracts, and this will break the unions hold and qantas can make more money etc. They don't care about their service level. Or at least thats what I reckon.

I've traveled with Jet Star several times and have never had any problems.

I think you just had bad luck on Christmas day when they would have been short staffed.
