hahha that could have alot of funny answers and it is a good question.
It depends on how much impact that certain instance had or still has in the time frame it hit or the frames of life in the pass overs its still hitting I suppose........If you follow what I'm saying.
Of course if my answer didn't have a big impact on you then I suppose it would become history.Cause you'd through it out the window.
The band Kiss made a big impact on history loved or hated.
The nuclear bomb had an impact on history
If something has come and gone then it's history.
Also someone could be in the prosses of makeing history still.
I would say a year of big news on something would be considered a major part of history.

There has been some debate about this. What seems to be generally accepted now is that "History", starts 50 years ago from the present date, anything more recent comes under the heading, "Current Events" (? don't ask me why, no one seems to be able to answer that one.)

I think there are two ways to make history: Something becomes history when they common way of perceiving the issue changes (becoming old-fashioned) or when the event itself is pivotal in changing the common perception of an issue (like Roe v. Wade and abortion or Brown v. the Board of Educaton and segregation).
-- It's about starting a new era.

Writing that question is history, but as for what we are taught relies upon the importance of an event. The hanging of Saddam is now enshrined in the history of executed leaders, even though the news isn't even a month old!

A nano-second. History is everything that's gone before us no matter how long ago.
