I never thought I would see the day when a U.S.Army officer would disrespect the soldiers that look to him. What a disgrace. I hope he goes goes to hell after jail. What a moron

Though I'm not a supporter of punishing a person because of their beliefs he knew what he was getting into when he joined the military. He knew the consequences for refusing service and should expect to be prosecuted. Hopefully the punishment fits the crime, though, and he isn't given too severe of a sentence. I have many friends who have been deployed to Iraq or Afghan. who have seen people that don't want to be there. People who don't want to go are emotionally displaced and pose a serious threat to themselves and their comrades.

True enough. You can refuse to follow an unlawful order in the performance of your duty as a soldier, but you damn sure better be correct and be able to prove it was unlawful. Refusing to obey a deployment order could never be construed as such.

yes, i am well aware that after taking the oath any member of the Armed Forces has to follow legal orders. So any member canot refuse a legally ordered deployment. You are incorrect to say that a military member cannot refuse deployment. You do, if it was not ordered or if it was ordered illegally.

If you don't recognize this excerpt, it's from the Declaration of Independence. Notice the part about the people having "the right" to overthrow the government and replace it with a better one?

Im just glad we caught this coward in the states and not in the sandbox with tracers flying. This POS could have been my Platoon leader or worse one of My buddies Platoon leaders. Far better we gett rid of um here. Think my friends at Levanworth will give him a pleasant 6 years. I mean really WTF does the army do? its not a secret. been the same job for thousands of years.

Once you join the ARMY, you are their property. You eat and breathe and sleep ARMY. My husband was in for 20 years and he knows.
He must be arrested and dealt with harshly. What a poor example!

A soldier is REQUIRED to refuse an illegal order.

An order deploying someone to an illegal war is itself illegal.
